Hiram Capital views merchant banking as a natural extension of its advisory business. We stand behind the advice we provide to our clients and believe that our interests and our clients' interests should be aligned to the extent practicable. An important means of ensuring this is to invest through the Hiram Capital's Private Funds in transactions involving our clients where appropriate. We approach each matter on which we advise clients from the value-oriented perspective of an owner and we take a hands-on approach to everything from conducting due diligence to negotiating definitive agreements.
In many cases our ability to invest in transactions will provide capital that may otherwise be difficult or lengthy to obtain; in others, our financial commitment to a transaction will reassure our clients and their counterparties as to the reasonableness of its economic terms. Additionally, our continuing ownership of, and participation in, companies will often facilitate better communication between shareholders and management of companies and greater sensitivity to opportunities and threats brought about by developments in their business and in the financial markets.
